FACTS WHAT DOES SUMA FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
Why?

Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing.

Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?

The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security number
  • Account balances
  • Transaction and loss history
  • Overdraft history
  • Account transactions
  • Checking account information

When you are no longer a member of the credit union, we continue to share information about you as described in this notice.

How? All financial institution's need to share members' personal information to run their everyday business and to process transactions, maintain member accounts, and report to credit bureaus. In the section below, we list the reasons financial institutions can share their members' personal information; the reasons we choose to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

What we do
How does SUMA protect my personal information? To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.
How does SUMA collect my personal information

We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Open an account
  • Apply for a loan
  • Provide account information
  • Provide mortgage information
  • Use your credit or debit card
  • Show your driver's license

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can't I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit sharing only for

  • affiliates' everyday business purposes; information about your creditworthiness
  • affiliates from using information to market to you
  • sharing for non affiliates to market to you

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Definitions
Affiliates
  • SUMA has no affiliates.

Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and non financial companies.

Nonaffiliates
  • SUMA does not share with non affiliates so they can market to you.
Joint Marketing

A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • SUMA joint marketing companies may include CUNA MUTUAL INSURANCE and credit card companies.
Other Important Information
We will not share personal information with nonaffiliates either for them to market to you or for joint marketing without your authorization. We must notify you about our sharing practices when you open an account and each year thereafter.

 


Notice of Your Financial Privacy Rights

We, our, and us, when used in this notice, mean SUMA (Yonkers) Federal Credit Union.

This is our privacy notice for our members. When we use the words you and your we mean the following types of members:

Our consumer members who have a continuing relationship by purchasing or holding financial products or services such as a(n):

  • Share account
  • Loan account
  • Credit card account
  • Safe deposit box
  • Self-directed Individual Retirement Account

We will tell you the sources of the information we collect about you. We will tell you what measures we take to secure that information.

Let us first define some terms:

Nonpublic personal information means information about you that we collect in connection with providing a financial product or service to you. Nonpublic personal information does not include information that is available from public sources, such as telephone directories or government records. Hereafter, we will use the term "information" to mean nonpublic personal information as defined in this section.

An affiliate is a company we own or control.

A nonaffiliated third party is a person we do not employ or a company that is not an affiliate of ours. This is also known as nonaffiliated third party, or simply, an "other party."

The Information We Collect

We collect information about you from the following sources:

  • Information you give us on applications or other forms
  • Information about your transactions with us
  • Information about your transactions with other parties
  • Information from a consumer reporting agency
  • Information we receive as a result of verifying customer information

Information We Disclose About You

We do NOT disclose any information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law. Examples of this might include disclosures necessary to service your account or prevent unauthorized transactions.

The Confidentiality, Security, and Integrity of Your Information

We restrict access to information about you to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect this information.

Information About Former Members

We do not disclose information about former members, except as permitted by law.
